My philosophy is that each woman knows what kind of birth she would want and her body knows how to do it. I am here to help and support her decisions and give information as I can. This has been a dream for me to be able to help women in a way that means so much. The biggest thing is to make sure women do not feel alone. Whether you want a natural birth or the complete opposite or somewhere in between, I am here to help you with what you want. I am not here to replace your mom or your significant other, actually, I am there to support them as well. We make a great team to get you the birth you want. I want you to have the best birth experience for you!
A doula is someone who is specifically trained to provide emotional, physical, and informational support for during, before, and after Labor. I am not medically trained so I do not do any medical procedures.
Specifically for me, that means you will have constant support from me from the day you hire me. You will be able to reach me by phone and email. Then, I will be with you from when you call me in labor until 2 hours after you have delivered your baby. I am not there to take the place of your partner or replace your mom. I am there in addition to this if that’s what you chose. I work with your partner or anyone else that is there to make sure you are comfortable and that they are also.
It has been proven that with a Doula in attendance of birth, the rate of a C-Section is cut by 50%. Also, families can experience 25% shorter labor, less need for use of epidural, less need for a forceps delivery, and lower use of oxytocin (Pitocin) during labor. (americanpregnancy.org)

Hi, there I am Tracie Brecka. I grew up between Wisconsin and Illinois both in small towns. I knew from a young age that I wanted to help people. I attended college for a short period of time but I did not know what I wanted to do. I became pregnant with my twin boys in 2009 and I had started working as a medical assistant with family practice and soon found something I loved. My life changed very quickly by becoming a mom. My boys showed me so much more about myself than I can even describe. It was then I decided to do courses to become an RN. I did complete some classes but life threw another curveball at me. My mom got very sick with lung cancer and I needed (for me) to be there with her as much as I could. I helped a lot with taking care of her. While still working and being a single mom, I knew how much my mom had meant to me so I wanted to be sure she had anything she could need. I met my now-husband at this time as well and was able to see my mom fill with joy as she knew right away he was meant to be for us. She passed away in 2013. I married my husband in 2014.
We expanded our family by one more in 2016 with an amazing girl. I still was working in family medicine and kept connecting with my pregnant patients and kept having a calling to be closer to them. As I changed jobs and started working closer to home and was able to work with a Midwife, I soon discovered that this was it for me. I finally found what I wanted to do. My sister became pregnant and asked me to be her doula and without hesitation, I signed up for the training. I completed the training in 2019 and continue to expand my knowledge as best I can every day. I love learning and trying to make sure I have the best information that I can.
